Mars and his wife began making and selling butter cream candies out of their home kitchen located in Tacoma, Washington. Frank's involvement in candy goes way back to his childhood - not only in consuming it (as most kids and adults enjoy doing!), but also in making or selling candy products. However, the year 1911 was when the Mars Candy company really began to take shape. Transitioning out of their kitchen, they rented a factory and began producing candies on a larger scale.
